Lights, camera, action – inspiring kids.
DETROIT FILM KIDS is a nonprofit organization that introduces children to the world of filmmaking, encouraging creativity, storytelling, and technical skills. We believe that every child has a unique story to tell, and we provide them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to bring their visions to life through the magic of cinema.
Comprehensive workshops covering camera operation, lighting techniques, sound recording, and post-production editing using industry-standard equipment and software.
Creative writing sessions that help children develop compelling narratives, character development, and visual storytelling techniques for their film projects.
Hands-on training in video production, digital editing, sound design, and other technical aspects essential for modern filmmaking careers.
Our flagship 8-week intensive program where kids aged 8-16 create their own short films from concept to completion. Participants learn every aspect of filmmaking while working in collaborative teams.
Year-round weekly sessions that provide ongoing film education, allowing students to develop their skills progressively while maintaining their regular school schedule.
Monthly events where young filmmakers showcase their work to family, friends, and community members, building confidence and celebrating their achievements.
